What We’re About

Our History

The early days at Dodd Elementary. Here’s our worship team practicing before Sunday service.

The Wylie Northeast Church was formally planted in October of 2009, and is a result of prayer, planning and following God as He builds His church in Wylie. In the early days, we worshipped gladly in the cafeteria of Dodd Elementary. Since then, we’ve gone on to worship in 3 different buildings as well as on zoom. We’re content going wherever God gives us a place to meet, so long as we’re with one another. We’ve planted 2 churches since 2009, one in Denton and the other in Plano, as God has called us to be a church-planting church like the one we were planted from.

Our home-base church, the Northeast Church in Garland, was formed in 1998, and is a congregation that seeks to put 'church' back into our neighborhoods and communities. God has blessed our fellowship from the very beginning as we follow a philosophy of building "from the ground up" - our youngest children's ministries to ministry leadership; and "from the inside out" - the priority of hearts fully devoted to God.

Our Mission

“To make and mature disciples to the glory of God.”

This is our mission, not only as a collective church body, but also as individual disciples of Christ. Our part of 'making' disciples is to always be ready, willing and able to share the truth about Jesus. We do that in our sermons, ministries, small groups and 1-on-1 Bible studies. We share the good news that Jesus is both Lord and Savior.

The 'maturing' part of our mission is a commitment to encourage, train and challenge each other to become exactly who God wants us to be. Our life-model is Christ, and our spiritual walk with Him will continually refine us as we become more like Him and less like the world. This path is not 'climbing the ladder' of religious hierarchy, but a life-long journey to reflect the humility and servant-heart of Jesus.

Our Beliefs

This is where a lot of churches publish their 'statement of faith' - an attempt to crystallize the collective understanding and beliefs of a congregation or denomination. Over the years, God has built our church body with people who are from various spiritual traditions, and who are at different stages in their walk with Him. So, it is very difficult to make a formal statement communicating what we all believe at any given point in time, or especially what someone must believe in order to join our fellowship.

We do believe in 'simple Christianity' - a pure devotion to living our lives for Jesus.

We are 'non-denominated' - we don't belong to an organized network or association of churches. We are an independent fellowship striving to be the body of Christ that God desires.

We focus on 'discipleship' - Jesus is our model for everything; our relationship with God, our relationship with others, and our mission in life. Disciples are 'learners', and we not only want to know about God, but we want to know God - intimately and honestly.

We are a 'community' - a spiritual family that, above all other differences, has Christ in common. We get involved in each other's lives, and we count on each other for encouragement, support and accountability. We celebrate and protect the blessing of our spiritual partnership. We are 'evangelistic' - we will always reach out to anyone, anytime, anywhere who needs God in their life. We are messengers, or ambassadors, of the great news that Jesus is both Lord and Saviour.

If you call Jesus 'Lord', we call you 'brother/sister'.
